Research and Development - R&D
Maritime Traffic Engineering specialize in all maritime developments, safety of ship traffic, off-shore and on-shore construction safety, and many other concerning open and restricted waters with use of latest technology (simulators, tools etc). Whole range of possible implementation of research in marine traffic engineering includes:
- supporting the design process of ports, quays, marinas
- changes in the existing ports
- design of specialized terminals and their equipment,
- selection of channels approach, turning basins, quays and other
- analysis of dynamic conditions (wind, wave, current) and their impacts on hydro structures and ships
- probabilistic modeling of vessels behavior
- marine systems risk analysi
- risk management - systems developing and implementation
Experience:
We carried out over 200 scientific and research works, most of them ended in specific implementations. Institute's recent achievements are the work associated with the development and practical application of navigational risk assessment methods. List of selected worksimplemented in practice- LINK.
Tools design and developed by our research team are used - including the unique simulators and the latest technology.
Detailed offer:
Detailed information about conducted researchescoveringsafety of navigation:
- risk assessment and risk management of marine systems on restricted waters
- modeling, optimization and managementof vessel traffic systems safetyinrestricted waters
-
determining the optimum parameters of the restricted water areas (docks,
fairways, turning basins, etc.) - selection of the best solutions of shipsentry to the port from safety of navigation point of view (the shape andlocation of breakwaters)
- determination of propeller streams velocity distributions at the bottom using simulation methods of ship traffic and using them as guidelines for the construction of bottom protection
- determining the safety of underwater pipelines and cables in terms of possible damage by anchors or fishing vessels
- analysis of the economic efficiency of maritime traffic engineering systems
- determining the safety of bridges in terms of a possible collision with passingships and guidelines for their protection
- modeling of ships traffic safety, grounding or collision in restricted areas by the Monte Carlo method
- determining the capacity of waterways and safety on junction with ferry crossings
- modeling ships motion parameters based on real research (RTK - GPS and inertial navigation)
- offshore construction safety, such as oil rigs, wind turbines, etc., in terms of potential collision with passing ships
Implementations
We can design and create any system on parameters required by the user:
- developing systems to enhance safety of navigation, such as pilot navigation systems (PNS)
- applications using electronic charts, prediction of the ship position, systems positioning and presentation of the ship as an area of water plane;
- applications based on web interfaces (www), API (Windows) or Linux.
- high-performance interfaces, distributed applications
- dedicated AISsystems including AIS-web
- marine GIS systems for traffic monitoring based on GPS technology, GSM and AIS;
- designand construction of anti-collision systems on restricted water areas;
- method of GPS, DGPS and RTK for precise examination of the actual maneuvers of ships in ports, canals and open water and determining the parameters of ship maneuvering;
- geodeticoptoelectronic measuring methods for determining the vessels position on the waterways;
- close range photogrammetry methods to characterize vessel traffic
